This position will operate in a hybrid work environment, 3-4 days per week in the office (Philadelphia, PA).
OVERVIEW:
The individual will be a member of Glenmede’s Equity Research team, supporting the fundamental research process underlying our small cap, mid cap, and SMID cap equity portfolios. The Research Analyst will support the Co-Portfolio Managers and will operate within a modern, technology-augmented research structure.
The Research Analyst will serve as the team's primary interface between quantitative screening tools, AI-generated research inputs, and the portfolio managers responsible for primary research, macro-oversight, and portfolio construction. The ideal candidate will bring investment research experience, thinks rigorously about markets, and work alongside AI analytical tools to produce better, faster investment insights.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- AI Input Management. Serve as the team's primary operator of AI research tools, including Claude-based workflows. Structure inputs, evaluate outputs, and translate AI-generated analysis into actionable research insights for portfolio manager consumption.
- Quantitative Screening. Maintain and refine FactSet-based screening models to systematically identify investment candidates across the small cap and mid cap universe. Incorporate factor- and theme-level market analysis to keep screens current and relevant.
- Market & Factor Analysis. Conduct factor- and theme-level analysis of market dynamics, including investor positioning, factor exposure impacts, and thematic trends. Help identify long/short thematic and basket trade opportunities surfaced through AI agent analysis.
- Portfolio Support. Deliver timely, well-synthesized information to support portfolio manager decision-making. Monitor holdings, market developments, and sector news with an emphasis on speed and clarity of communication.
- Variant View Development. Engage with AI-generated variant views and investment personas to stress-test consensus thinking and surface differentiated perspectives for team discussion.
- Research Skill Development. Actively participate in investment team meetings to develop fundamental research capabilities and deepen sector and market knowledge over time, with an eye toward expanded analytical responsibilities.
- Firm Building. Contribute to ongoing efforts to improve research workflows, expand the team's analytical toolkit, and enhance the integration of AI tools into the investment process.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related analytical field.
- 2+ years of experience in equity research, investment management, or a related investment role.
- Solid grounding in fundamental research, including financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and valuation.
- Familiarity with the small cap and/or mid cap investment universe.
- Proficiency with FactSet and/or Bloomberg.
- Comfort working with AI tools and a genuine interest in how technology is reshaping the investment research process.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CFA designation or active CFA candidate.
- Experience with Python or other data and analytics tools for research or screening applications.
- Hands-on experience with AI platforms (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) in a professional research or analytical context.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize complex information clearly and concisely for senior decision-makers.
- Self-starter with intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and strong attention to detail.
- Collaborative by nature, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently.
